Stop and Smell the Flowers at the Berkeley Botanical Garden

August 09, 2017

The University of California at Berkeley is the crown jewel of the California university system and one of the top institutions of higher learning in the world, but did you also know it’s home to 34 acres of pristine and serene botanical gardens? Just a quick 20-minute drive from our hotel, the UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley boasts one of most eclectic landscapes anywhere. Approximately 10,000 varieties of fauna from across the world are organized according to continent or geographical region. Conservationists are especially proud of the specimens from Mediterranean climates, representing Australia, California, Chile, the Mediterranean Basin, and South Africa. Guided tours, which are included in the price of admission, start at 1:30 P.M. every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the year. Note that the enormously popular Redwood Grove is often closed for private events, so you might want to check beforehand to ensure you will be able to see it during your visit.
