Getting Back to Nature at the Lafayette Recreation Area

March 04, 2019

If you’ve spent the winter sheltering from the elements, you’re probably as thrilled as we are that spring is just a few weeks away. As a guest of the Lafayette Park Hotel, you’re within easy walking or driving distance from some of the most beautiful landscapes on the West Coast. We especially recommend the quick trip over to the Lafayette Recreation Area, where you can enjoy close to 1000 acres devoted to hiking trails, wildlife preserves, and lakeside splendor. There’s plenty of catfish and trout to catch, and plenty of public grills and picnic tables for you to prepare and savor the fruits of your labor. Rent a pedal boat, rowboat, or kayak to coast blissfully across Lafayette Reservoir, or stroll along the scenic Lakeside Nature Trail (2.7 miles, paved) or the slightly more challenging Rim Trail (4.7 miles, unpaved). When you’re ready to indulge in the comforts of home once again, head back to the luxury of the Lafayette Park Hotel. We’ll have your pillows fluffed and waiting.
