Hiking, Fishing, Boating, and Grilling at the Lafayette Recreation Area

March 07, 2018

As winter transitions to spring, it’s time to put away your heavy coat and venture back out into the lush wilderness that makes Northern California one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world. For its all-around versatility and convenience, we recommend a trip to the Lafayette Recreation Area, located just minutes from our hotel. You’ll find nearly 1,000 acres of natural splendor, perfect for hiking the trails, photographing fascinating wildlife, and taking in the stunning panoramic views. There’s always an open picnic table for you and your loved ones, and many of the sites even provide grills for public use (these come in especially handy for those trout or catfish you’re likely to catch). You can also take advantage of the 2.7-mile paved Lakeside Nature Trail and the 4.7-mile unpaved Rim Trail, or rent a kayak, pedal boat, or rowboat for the day. Dogs are more than welcome throughout the Recreation Area; just don’t forget the leash.
