2010 Wine and Beer Maker Dinner Series

The Duck Club Restaurant's wine and beer program is renowned for its ongoing Wine and Beer Maker Dinner Series. Each event features a presentation from the wine or beer maker and a specially prepared, multi-course meal by our Executive Chef Chuck Courtney that highlights the showcased wines or brews.

Wine maker dinners have included vinters such as Duckhorn Vineyards, Cakebread Cellars, Sonoma-Cutrer, Stags' Leap, DuMol Winery, Schramsberg Vineyards, Grgich Hills Estate, and many others. Beer maker dinners have included the Russian River Brewing Co., Firestone Walker and an upcoming beer vs. wine dinner that will evaluate and celebrate how each pairs with food.

Jordan and J Vineyards and Winery

Join us for a very unique and special winemaker dinner featuring Jordan Vineyard & Winery and J Vineyards & Winery on Friday, October 29th, 2010 at the Duck Club Restaurant. Hors d'oeuvres will be served at 6:30pm and Dinner begins at 7:00pm.

A sensational four-course menu designed by Chef Chuck Courtney will feature wine pairings from both wineries and is a must-taste for connoisseurs and gourmets alike.

The Duck Club Restaurant embraces guests with a warm, Old World elegance that is reminiscent of an 18th century European hunting club. Executive Chef Chuck Courtney has created a menu with an array of approachable dishes featuring refined contemporary cuisine, with a focus on the freshest seasonal, regional and organic ingredients and choice seafood and steaks. The Bistro at the Park is a lively neighborhood gathering place, featuring familiar food and drinks. The Bistro is renowned for its warm atmosphere, large stone fireplace and friendly service. The menu highlights fresh, local ingredients and the bar has one of the largest selections of wines by the glass and regional microbrews in the San Francisco East Bay, as well as being the proud and regular winner of such accolades as "The Best Martini" and "The Best Cosmopolitan" in the area.

Starting on the first Wednesday of every month, both the Duck Club Restaurant and The Bistro at the Park feature a "Wine of the Month," and offer special tastings and wine-by-the-glass programs of this featured winery.

Executive Chef Chuck Courtney
Under Chef Courtney's expert direction since 2006, all of the cuisine at the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa is comprised of fresh, innovative dishes. His culinary approach is to create food that is delicious, contemporary and dedicated to using sustainable and locally grown ingredients.

"The San Francisco Bay Area has such an abundance of fresh, organic food, it is a pleasure to create meals that use the bounty of our area," says Chef Courtney. "We also offer a generous wine list that focuses on the great wine regions of Northern California."

Before coming to the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa, Courtney was the Executive Chef at Citron in the 4-star, Viceroy Hotel in Palm Springs where he won numerous accolades from Wine Spectator, The New York Times and Bon Appetit. Chef Courtney earned his Culinary Arts Degree from the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon.
