The first bistros are said to have sprung up in Paris, when Tsar Alexander's troops occupied the city after Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo. Bistros offered straightforward food and drink at inexpensive prices in a relaxed and timely manner. The word "bistro" is the Russian word for "be quick." The Bistro at the park continues this tradition.
